a. Click on start button and type device manager.
b. Select device manager from the control panel list.
d.Right-Click on it and select “Properties”.

but the thing i have tried updating from device manager but no luck then i checked intel site for latest driver and software then i updated them but no luck still virtual driver is still missing. also last restore i had created was 1 year back :( so is there is any software that can fix this issue.
The thing is that i just want to create a hotspot (non Ad-hoc) to share net to my android device. connectify is not supportive in AP mode ( may be due to missing virtual adapter).

I have found the miniport is in Windows 7 but not 8. I believe it is required to get WIDI to function.

I tried everything, but still virtual adapter is not visible. i have two laptops, in one laptop it is visible, but not visible in second laptop. i replaced second laptop wifi card with first laptop where it is visible, but still mini adapter is not visible in second laptop. with same wifi card it is working in my first laptop. very confused pls help. ????????????
both laptops have same o/s(win 7 64 bit) and updated windows and drivers.

Method 1: I can't update driver of device which doesn't exist on my system (I have Intel WiFi 4965AG, but 'Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport' does not seem to exist).
Method 2: It is newly installed system (Windows 7 32-bit) with up-to-date drivers, so there are no relevant restore points.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I was facing the same problem but again after doing the update it is still not able to update it.
following error comes.
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
